They are pushing your emotional buttons as they steer you into spending your hard earned money so that they can earn the big comissions. It's not really a nice comparison but it's kind of like when you are at the funeral home after a loved one passes away and you have to make arrangements. You are a captive audience riding an emotional rollercoaster with decisions to make and not always thinking with a straight head.
